Important: Alternate ID information
Effective January 1, 2008, Delta Dental will begin using an alternate ID number for your Delta Dental benefits program. Using your alternate ID number will help reduce the risk of identity theft. Your alternate ID numbers are subject to the same privacy protections as social security numbers under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Privacy Rule. Click here for more information about Delta Dental’s HIPAA compliance, including our Privacy Statement. Remember, when you visit a Delta Dental dentist, you don't need to present your ID card. Simply provide the dental office with your alternate ID number or your SSN.

Delta Dental PPO Plan
Delta Dental PPO is available to employees. In order to receive in-network benefits, you must visit a PPO dentist. PPO dentists agree to accept reduced fees for covered procedures when treating PPO patients. This means your out-of-pocket costs are usually lower when you visit a PPO dentist than when you visit a non-Delta Dental dentist. There are more than 13,000 PPO dental offices in California and 116,500 nationwide. If you choose to visit a non-PPO Delta Dental Premier dentist, you'll still enjoy user-friendly claims administration, cost protections and other Delta Dental advantages, plus have access to more than 194,900 dental offices nationwide. However, please remember that your out-of-pocket expenses will be lowest if you visit a PPO dentist.

Delta Dental Premier
Delta Dental Premier plan provides access to our larger network for in-network benefits with freedom to choose treatment from any licensed dentist. The program pays a percentage for covered services; you may be charged only what we determine is the “patient share.” Premier dentists will not balance bill you above Delta Dental’s approved amount; non-Delta Dental dentists may balance bill you up to their full fees.
