Frequently asked questions

What is AARP Health Care Options?*

AARP Health Care Options represents a collection of health products and services—including insurance plans—designed to make it more convenient and less costly for AARP members to stay well. Each plan and service has been researched and endorsed by AARP to ensure their members a best-in-class combination of prices, benefits and services.

How do I enroll in the AARP Dental Insurance Plan?

You can enroll by telephone or download and print the enrollment form, which can be mailed in with a check or money order. Master Card, VISA, or American Express can also be used. To download an enrollment form online, click here to access the rate finder, which uses your zip code to retrieve the rates and enrollment form for your area.

What are the rates?

Use our online rate finder to determine what your premium will be, based on how many individuals will be covered and what type of payment schedule you select.

When will my coverage start?

You may enroll any time. If we receive your enrollment form and payment by the end of the month and your eligibility can be verified, your coverage will begin on the first day of the following month.

How does the AARP Dental Insurance Plan work?

The AARP Dental Insurance Plan is a dental PPO. However, unlike some PPO plans, you have the choice to visit any licensed dentist, anywhere in the world. Our program dentists are a select group of Delta Dental dentists who agree to provide treatment to you at reduced fees, which means your share of the bill will likely be lower. Therefore, while you do have flexibility in choosing a dentist with this plan, you maximize your benefits when visiting a Delta Dental program dentist.

Why should I join the AARP Dental Insurance Plan?

With the AARP Dental Insurance Plan, there are a number of benefits you will enjoy. You will receive the freedom to choose any licensed dentist, lower out-of-pocket costs, claims convenience, the largest dentist network, and the benefit of most pre-existing conditions being covered. Click here for more information.

What is the overall value I receive when I enroll in the AARP Dental Insurance Plan?

You get great coverage for dental services. By joining the AARP Dental Insurance Program, you'll benefit from diagnostic and preventive services, including two annual cleanings, along with restorations, oral surgery, denture repairs and relines and endodonticts (root canals) during the first year.

After 12-months of consecutive enrollment, your benefits expand to include periodontics, crowns and prosthodontics (bridges, partials and dentures).

You can enroll any or all eligible family members and you'll have the reassurance of working with Delta Dental, one of the most trusted names in the dental insurance industry.

What are my payment options?

Check, money order, Visa, MasterCard and American Express are all acceptable methods of payment. For added convenience, you may set up an automatic checking account electronic funds transfer (EFT) for a monthly payment. If you select quarterly, semi-annual or annual payments, you will receive an invoice by mail.
