FAQ: Payments and copayments
Can I have Delta Dental's payment checks made payable to my professional partnership?
Yes. Amounts due from Delta Dental may be paid to your professional corporation, partnership or association. However, you may not assign amounts due from Delta Dental to any other entity, such as an accounts receivable agency.

Can I waive part of the patient's copayment without jeopardizing my accepted fees?
Participating dentists are required to make reasonable efforts to collect the entire amount of the patient's copayment. If you wish to give the patient a discount, it should be reflected in the fee on the claim. For example, if your accepted fee for a service is $100 and you wish to give the patient a 20 percent discount, you should enter $80 on the claim as the total fee charged. This ensures that the discount is applied to both Delta Dental's portion and the patient's portion as required under the terms of your agreement with Delta Dental.

What is the patient's payment obligation when Delta Dental denies payment on a claim because it was submitted more than six months after the service was provided?
The patient is responsible for his or her portion only. The amount that would have been payable by Delta Dental may not be charged to the patient. Click here for other claims processing tips.
