Effective February 1, 2003, the San Mateo Healthy Kids program was implemented at the Health Plan of San Mateo (HPSM). The Program provides medically necessary health care services to eligible children residing in San Mateo County who are not otherwise covered by the Medi-Cal program, the Healthy Families program or private or other insurance for such health care services. The Program is designed to help children of families with incomes at or below 400 percent of the federal poverty level, who do not have access to employer-sponsored health care. Dental coverage includes most diagnostic, preventative and basic restorative services. There are no co-payments for diagnostic and preventive care services such as topical fluoride treatment, x-rays, cleanings, and dental sealants. There are also no co-payments for fillings.
