Effective January 1, 2007, Delta Dental State Government Programs will only accept CDT-2007 procedure codes
CDT-2007 is the newest version of the American Dental Association’s Current Dental Terminology. The federal HIPAA legislation requires that it be used in electronic health care transactions. When the ADA changes the codes, carriers must adopt the changes. Please begin to use CDT-2007 codes when submitting claims to Delta Dental State Government Programs for services you perform on or after January 1, 2007 for the Healthy Families and similar programs. For services provided in 2006, you should continue to use CDT-2005 codes. Copies of CDT-2007 will be available for purchase from the ADA. Information is available on the ADA web site.
In addition to the updated codes, Delta has updated policy for select procedures to conform to Delta Dental Plans Association processing policies. The Delta Dental State Government Programs Provider Handbook has been updated to reflect these changes and is available here. To order a CD or hard copy version of the provider manual, you may contact our Customer Service Department toll free at 800-838-4337.
