Latest Department of Insurance Updates
On March 6, Indiana issued Bulletin 191 regarding the state of emergency in the counties of Clark, Gibson, Harrison, Jefferson, Posey, Ripley, Scott, Warrick and Washington. The Department of Insurance has requested all insurers extend their grace periods (time frame for submission of all premiums due) for 60 days retroactive to March 1, or until May 1, 2012.
On March 9, Kentucky issued Advisory 2012-02 regarding its statewide state of emergency. The Department of Insurance has asked all insurers to exercise leniency in the submission of premiums, copayments and deductibles or other charges which may be due, and that might result in policy cancellations. The does not give any set time frames other than “reasonable time periods” that benefit their customers.
