Anthony S. Barth appointed president and CEO of Delta Dental of California and affiliated companies

San Francisco — Delta Dental of California and its affiliated companies announced today the appointment of Anthony S. Barth as president and chief executive officer.
Effective January 1, Barth takes over leadership of the nation’s largest dental benefits administrator, with more than 33 million subscribers in 15 states plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, and more than $8 billion in revenues. He succeeds Gary D. Radine as president and CEO, who retired on December 31.
Barth becomes Delta Dental of California’s fifth CEO over the last 60 years and will be based out of the company’s San Francisco headquarters. Named as chief operating officer and executive vice president in 2001, he also served the past year as joint president with Radine. Previous positions include president and CEO of affiliates Delta Dental Insurance Company and PMI Dental Health Plan, which merged with Delta Dental of California in 2007.
A graduate in business administration from California State University-Northridge, Barth is a certified public accountant in California. Prior to joining the Delta Dental system in 1988, he worked with a major accounting firm and a benefits consulting practice.
