It’s all about the people for Delta Dental’s new CHRO, Sarah Chavarria
October 11, 2017
What‘s a business without its people? Sarah Chavarria, the new chief human resources officer (CHRO) for Delta Dental of California and its affiliates, knows how to create win-win solutions for companies and the employees who are passionate about them.
“Creating an engaged workforce is so much more than the ‘hire, train and work‘ approach,” says Sarah, an HR industry veteran with more than 25 years of experience. “It‘s important to have a great onboarding experience, but that‘s just the beginning. Our employees will benefit from new talent management and development programs as well as from the buzz we‘re creating around our corporate values and vision.”
Recently, Delta Dental rolled out a new purpose statement: Creating Smiles. Improving Health. Enhancing Lives. Sarah‘s quick to point out that it‘s not only something we do for customers, but also what Delta Dental does for its team.
“I‘m thrilled to be at a company where there‘s renewed emphasis on enhancing the employee experience and culture,” she adds. “We are at such a wonderful time in health care history, with the merging of technology and business management alongside an industry that bends and grows faster than it ever did before.”
Sarah‘s impressive background includes serving as chief people officer at NantHealth; she also was with Optum360, a joint venture between Optum and Dignity Health, and was vice president at Dignity Health. Her other experience includes senior leadership roles at Oracle, Medibuy and Levi Strauss.
“We‘re very lucky to have someone as experienced and passionate leading our workforce initiatives,” says Tony Barth, Delta Dental‘s president and CEO. “Sarah brings the skills and energy we were looking for to enhance the employee experience and tying it to our business goals. We‘re excited to see what the future brings!”
